Dinomite Skirt
For Mother’s Day I received a serger. And so far I really love it. It serges super fast and it’s so nice to have a quick way to finish edges that look polished. It has also opened up my world to a new type of fabric….knit! I usually stay away from anything with stretch when I’m sewing, but the serger helps make the knits give a bit and not roll at the edges.
So when Bella and I were searching for knits, and came across this dinosaur fabric AND it was marked down, our eyes locked, eyebrows raised, and we gave the nod of dino-decisiveness.
After folding the fabric in half, measuring her tiny teen waist, and cutting two a lined pieces, the skirt started coming to shape. We added a no roll elastic waist and now she has a cute skirt perfect for warm summers and when paired with leggings can be worn well into the fall. The project took about an hour and the final cost was $8. That’s what I call a DIY dino-score!
Skirts are one of my most favorite things to sew because they are so easy. What’s your favorite sewing project?
