Rag Rugs
I LOVE vintage sheets. I love the colors, I love the worn soft fabric, and I love the nostalgia. So you might be surprised to hear I’ve been ripping them to shreds (really, I have!). I’ve been ripping one-inch strips of my favorite vintage sheets to make this for my daughter.
I’m hoping to make it much larger, and if it keeps snowing, surely I will succeed.
Here’s a video tutorial on how to make crocheted rag rugs. The video tutorial uses t-shirts, which I intend to use for my sons rug. But you can also use vintage sheets or any other fabric you have laying around.
If you don’t have have the time or fear you dont have the skills to make a rag rug, you can also purchase one from American Recycle. The owner, Sally Lange has been making fabulous, earth-friendly rugs for years and they are so lovely. Plus she is a Salem Etsy Team member and a wonderful lady.

My mother-in-law made a rug out of plastic bread sacks. I was just thinking about my old t-shirts, what to do with them. Thanks for the idea, can’t wait to get started!
