Waste Less Workshops

Recycling is an easy sell. Waste reduction marketing is much more challenge. So I decided to channel the maker movement energy and put it to work for us in Marion County. Using hand painted posters I promoted waste reduction and consumption alternatives. I taught classes on how to make bees wrap wraps, DIY toothpaste, sock darning, and DIY produce bags. The events and programs quickly filled and people learned skills they could put into practice at home. Since not everyone who wanted to attend could make the workshops, I created informative videos and tutorials about how people could reduce their consumption. Each Wednesday I promoted a Waste Reduction tip on Social Media which earned an organic reach of 40,133 in four months.
