Recycling Campaign 2018

In the Spring of 2018, much of recycling changed. For over 25 years, developed nations sent recycling to China for processing and recycling. Much of the goods we sent were contaminated and miss sorted and in 2018, China decided they had enough of managing our mixed up waste. This sent a shock through the domestic recycling processers. Marion County chose to clean up the stream and enlist residents to Recycle Right. Over 100K was spent on advertising placement and it was my job to come up with the creative assets. Everything needed to be updated. I set up photoshoots of acceptable materials, created educational posters and materials, and made ads that continued the messaging. Our haulers also adopted these elements and added the graphics in their campaigns. The great news is that our contamination rates dropped considerably thanks to the marketing, education, and efforts of the residents.
