Buy Local in Salem
So I was just reading the Top Ten reason to Think Local, see the article below and thought, I’d love to know everyone’s favorite local business here in Salem. Often times Salem gets overlooked by not being hip enough. Our big brother and sister, Portland and Eugene, usually gain the most exposure as the cool kids, however I won’t let this intimidation bully me into thinking Salem is not good enough. Salem has lots to offer and I think we should praise those little businesses that make Salem special! So, leave me a comment about a place that you love and share it with everyone!
I do have to admit though, there are tons of places I’d like to visit but just don’t. Being a mommy with grabby and sometimes crabby young kids, the last thing I want to do is shop/dine when it’s stressful. With that said, here are some places/businesses where I always feel welcome with or without the kiddos.
Confectionatly Yours- Michelle is so very super friendly and who doesn’t love cute little cookie cutters?
Art Department- I adore their 70% off canvas sale in the summer and love that I don’t have to travel far to find art supplies.
Bittersweet Baking- owned by a friend and AMAZING baker, Jen Haas’s sweets are sinful and beautiful.
Greenbaulm’s Quilted Forest- so much fabric, so little time.
Straight From New York Pizza- they have great pizza AND are open till 10 on most nights. When most everything is closed in Salem, they keep open…thank goodness for that!
Fuji Ricetime- Fast, friendly and affordable…their food warms my belly and makes me a happy girl.
E-Z Orchards- such beautiful produce and lots of it is local!
Fordyce Farms- a fun family run farm where even my kids like to help pick berries.
