Magazine Madness- Perfectly Imprudent Puppets
Summer has hit us hard. It’s super hot in our old house. We have no central air conditioning to keep us comfortable, yet it’s still cooler inside than outside. Craft activity to the rescue!
These absurd magazine puppets are a cinch to make.
You’ll need a few supplies:
- scissors
- cardstock or recycled boxes
- hole punch
- metal brad (paper fastener)
- glue stick
- wooden skewers, popsicle sticks or pencils
- tape
- magazines
First find some cool images from your magazines. Mix up different skin tones, genders and sizes for really interesting people. Add a few accessories for some added spunk.
Glue all your pieces on cardstock and then cut around them. When you are done, layer each body part over the body trunk where you want them attached. Take your hole punch and punch through booth the body trunk and body part. Then insert a metal brad. Now your puppet is able to move. Keep adding more parts, punching, and added brads till your creature is complete. Add a wooden skewer to the back of your puppet with tape.
Your kids (as well as yourself) will have fun positioning the puppets in fun poses and creating little skits. Now if I can only figure out how to turn these into little fans to really keep us cool, now that would be amazing!
