The Poisonwood Bible

I just finished reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. After getting into a discussion with my friend Angela about missionaries, she loaned me the book. I have never read a Kingsolver book before, nor have I been all that interested in Africa. After reading the book I definatly feel inspired to find out some more about Africa’s history.

In The Poisonwood Bible Barbara Kingsolver weaves a story about sisterhood, colonization, religious conquests, political revolution, domestic violence, community, and African history in such a authentic way that I sometimes thought I was actually in the Belgian Congo. It was a quick read even though it was a midsized novel of 540 pages. I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone who likes a well told story of adventure, heartache, and survival. This book is truly amazing.
