Family Roadtrip to the Wildlife Safari
Since I wasn’t feeling too great when hubby was on vacation from work, we decided to take it easy but still have fun with the kids. The Wildlife Safari was just what the doctored ordered. I was able to relax, sit on my tukus, and see the sights.
The children were thrilled go on our adventure. We set out early on the road with a packed cooler of sandwiches, pirate booty, veggies and drinks. On the drive down spirits were high with lots of sharing, munching, and singing. There are no fancy DVD players in our car so the kids stayed busy reading about the animals in some safari books we checked out from the library. Hands clapped and cheers filled the car when we saw the signs for the Safari.
We got there right at opening – 9am. We waiting in line for a few minutes to check in, got our tickets (flashing our AAA membership card saved us some cash) and we were off on our adventure.
This Ostrich greeted us by pecking at our car. Apparently he woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
We got to see all the animals except the hippos. It took us about an hour to do a drive through and then we decided to go to the petting zoo and eat lunch. With our tickets we were allowed to go through the safari twice so we gave it another go. The second time hardly any animals were out. They may have been hiding from the heat under some shade. I felt bad for the visitors who barely saw anything but felt lucky that since we came early we were able to see so many wild creatures.
It was a good day. It was a long sleepy drive back, but we were happy to have made the journey.
