Busy Backyard

Paver Patio
Paver Patio

We’ve been busy! Last weekend we put in a paver patio and added rock to our side yard. After the digging, hauling, weeding, and sweat we got it done and love the new look.

Our first step was figuring out what material to use for the patio. We decided to go with pavers since pouring concrete into handmade molds sounded scary. Before we just had hard clay with sporadic weeds (sorry I don’t have before pictures). We wanted to have a hard surface for our patio set but have something that would blend into the landscape so we added low growing stepables in between the pavers. Corrosion Mint and creeping thyme smell wonderful and we look forward to seeing their growth!

For the side yard we mostly weeded, put down a weed barrier, hauled rock, and added some handpainted plaques. It looks so much better!

Here’s something the do-it-yourself shows never let you see.  Check out what we had left over! Dirt everywhere! This picture was taken after sweeping our kitchen. Our house was a mess, but our backyard was beautiful. I spent the next few days catching up on laundry, and cleaning. It never ends.

Now we’ll just have to have everyone over for a big party! Before then I’ll have to actually get used to walking on the stepables. I keep babying them.
