Creative Adventure

For the past few days I’ve been working on 3-D necklaces and some of them even move. I’ve been giddy thinking about all of the possiblitlies. The fun part is actually playing with the movable jewelry when it’s done. Making these little creations, I get to combine things I love. Let me list them for you…

So today I was thinking back to my ballerina music box I had as a kid. How I loved the little ballerina who twirled to the music. So I was thinking I could also make a little lady who spins. After some brainstorming I called up my local cake supply store, Confectionately Yours, and asked if they carried any ballerina cake toppers. The friendly lady on the line told me, indeed she did and she would hold it for me at the store. My hubby watched the kids and I took off on my mission. Michelle was there to help me and she was very helpful. I found not only my treasured ballerinas, but also some really cool hula figures too. I also bought some cookie cutters that were fall-shaped. It’s a really fun tucked away store that I think is one of Salem’s best kept secrets. The owners are so helpful and I’m always amazed at the amount of supplies they have there. Now who can say no to eatable glitter! Not this girl!

Anyway, I touched up my ballerina for my daughter who insisted that she have brown, not red hair. And I feverously crafted the ballerina trinket. I was only saddened by the fact that in order for the ballerina to twirl, the box would have to be big…much too big for a pendant. So I decided to make it a bit smaller and have her move up and down and not spin. It’s still on the large size, especially for a 5 year old, but I do think it will be a wonderful ornament. The other image I’m posting is of my “build dreams.” necklace. This one does not move but is still charming. I made the bird’s nest out of silver wire and added some blue beads as eggs. I really like the vintage feel of it.

Lately I’ve also been on a bird kick. Little Missy (my daughter) can’t dress up at school, but they are having crazy hair day. So I’m hoping to make her hair into a birds nest, with eggs, raffia, and birds as well. I’ll post that tomorrow along with the kiddo’s costumes. Isn’t halloween a blast? Sugar, make believe, and friends. I can’t think of a better holiday!
